Our Local Church
At Lynchburg City Church you will encounter authentic worship, passionate, expository preaching, and a community of believers committed to living together on mission to make disciples of Jesus.

We believe authentic worship begins with hearts transformed by the gospel. Worship is more than what happens when we sing on Sunday. It is our response to who God is and what He has done through Jesus.
As the Word of Christ takes root in us, it shapes our hearts, our relationships, our words, and our lives. We gather to sing, pray, hear God’s Word, and celebrate His grace, but we also seek to worship Him in everything we do.
For us, worship is not simply a moment we attend, it is a life we offer to Jesus.
Colossians 3:16–17

We believe God’s Word is the foundation for the life of the church. That’s why we seek to faithfully teach Scripture verse by verse, working through what the Bible actually says and applying it to our everyday lives. Through expository preaching, we want to understand God’s Word in its proper context, see how it points us to Christ, and allow Scripture—not our opinions—to shape how we think, live, and follow Jesus.
-
We believe the gospel doesn’t just bring us to Jesus, it shapes the way we live together through discipleship. The church is a family where we encourage one another, carry one another’s burdens, exhort one another, serve together, and grow in faith. We want Lynchburg City Church to be a place where people can belong, grow, and live out the gospel together. Our entire church model reflects this value.
Hebrews 3:12-13

9 Marks
9 Marks’ focus in everything is on nine marks of a healthy church—expositional preaching, gospel doctrine, conversion and evangelism, church membership, church discipline, discipleship and growth, church leadership, prayer, and missions. Why these nine? Because the Bible requires them, and, sadly, too many evangelical churches have neglected or assumed them.
